Pool vacuum: analysis for apart pods (Hayward Pool Vac, Ultra, Navigator, Bug)
poor explanation for checking to see if the pods and A-frames are tightly connected. If there is the slightest looseness of this connection the pool vacuum will not walk around properly. While there are other causes of this problem, this one is often overlooked. Other possible causes: bad bearing on A-frame, bad turbine bearing, piece of debris stuck on an A-frame, worn gear in upper area, debris stuck in steering gear box, worn gear(s) in steering gear box. Hopefully others have made videos about these problems. This video was originally made for one of my customers who is off my beaten path and is one of the first I made so it isn't very good. When I have time I plan to redo it. @tboy221 (Nav hangs on drain) Check these: 1. Excessive suction? 2. Vac hanging on cover? See www.maindrainclipon.com 3. Main drain line plugged off? Pool vac is a "roving" main drain. If you have separate vacuum line, install a "skimmer check valve" to plug front hole of skimmer. A plug will also do, but the skim ck valve preserves the safety function of the float valve (assuming it is present and works properly). SCV won't work with Vac Mate. 4. Nav problems (loose pod, bad turbine bearing, worn shoes)
